Creative Quilt Kits Classes
Creative Quilt Kits is excited to once again offer classes! We have successfully completed the move to our new location, unpacked the boxes and dusted off the ironing boards. We are pleased to introduce and make available our 800 square foot classroom complete with design walls! The creative possibilities are endless! Classes will be held at Creative Quilt Kits, 10489 Grand River, Brighton, MI. Please call the store to register at 810-225-2849. Here are some upcoming classes:
Modern Sewing Night
Date: December 6
Time: 6 p.m. - 11 p.m

Description: Bring your modern quilt projects and join us for an evening of camaraderie and refreshments. We will be working on all things modern with great music and munchies. $5 holds your spot, 2 people per table.
Bring your machine and notions with your project, but you can also purchase fabric that evening if you like. Design walls available for conceptualizing your newest creation.
Also, bring your ideas for modern quilting events for next year! This is not a class, but a meeting of the minds for an evening of modern banter! We hope to see you there. Call and reserve your spot right away! You will get a 10% discount for what you buy that night.

Description: Every super quilter needs a Sidekick, ruler, that is! Come see the latest ruler from Jaybird Quilts that makes cutting diamonds and sixty degree triangles a breeze. You choose from several patterns: super trendy chevrons in the Lakeside pattern, very versatile Giggles, or the amazingly easy Rock Candy. This class will show you how to use the ruler with the pattern of your choice, plus some other tips and tricks to get more bang for your buck out of this already versatile ruler. Supplies needed will be sewing machine and basic sewing supplies, including rotary cutter and mat and fabrics required for chosen project. Ruler and pattern must be purchased prior to class.
Spicy Spiral Table Runner
Date: December 9
Time: 1 p.m. - 4 p.m.
Description: With a little preparation before the class, you will leave with a completed table runner top! This project will "Spice-up" any table.Once you make one, you won't be able to stop! You will learn how to use the unique 10 degree ruler for a fun and easy project. Preparation requires cutting fabric and sewing strips together.Supply list will be given at registration. Table runner measures approximately 25" x 42".
Guy’s Night Out
Date: December 19
Time: 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.
Description: Send your Guy to Creative Quilt Kits, and we’ll make sure he comes home with some pretty cool stuff! We’re setting aside three hours on Thursday evening to redirect your guy from football to fabric. We will have staff on hand to help him pick out the perfect holiday gift… for you! There will also be FREE gift wrapping with any purchase. Send your guy our way, with wish list in hand, for a fun night of shopping, refreshments and cookies.
Versa Curves taught by designer/author/teacher, Cathy Wierzbicki

Description: We are excited to bring back guest teacher, Cathy Wierzbicki, from our very successful Demo Day Event. In this one day class, you will have the chance to check out the latest tool, the Quilter’s Versa-Curve. It sews curves as easy as A-B-C!
This clever new acrylic tool is so easy and versatile! The tool comes packaged with TWO patterns--a large quilt and a table topper--making this a great value. So don’t get be stressed about curves!! Turn your frustration into a zen moment and learn how to construct either the ‘Falling Waters’ quilt or table runner from the quilt designer herself in our newly added Versa Curves class.
Designer/author/teacher, Cathy Wierzbicki, has numerous patterns and five quilting books to her credit.
Fabulous Fabric Selection

Description: Does the very thought of selecting fabrics for your next project make you break into a cold sweat? Come and learn some secrets to great color combinations and pattern picks. In this class you will learn about basic color theory, value, scale, and where to find inspiration for your projects. Let us help you make fabric selection your favorite part of the sewing process! A separate supply list will be provided to students closer to the class date.
Weekend Duffle Bag
Date: January, 17 & 31 or April 16 & 30
Time: 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Instructor: Laura Witt
Description: Make packing for a trip fun when you have a great bag made just for you.Class will be taught by the pattern designer, Laura Witt. She will show you the tips and tricks to create this bag in either of two sizes.
Beginning Paper Piecing
Date: January 24
Time: 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.
Instructor: Kathy Groves
Description: Paper piecing doesn't have to be scary! Kathy will walk you through the steps with the Starry Night Hollow patterns so that you'll be an expert in no time. If you're not a cat fan, it's okay. We have dogs or angels to pick from, too! Come see the Creative Quilt Cats Quilt for inspiration, pick your pattern, and conquer your paper piecing fears!
Eazy Peazy Too Square Table Runner
Date: January 30
Time: 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. or 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.
Instructor: Marie Darrow, Partner of Eazy Peazy Designs
Description: We are excited to bring back guest teacher and pattern designer, Marie Darrow from our very successful Demo Day Event! This class will only be offered one day, so pick an afternoon or evening session for this class. You will learn how to construct the “Too Square” table runner and see how “EAZY” it is to make this table runner using “EAZY” size adjustment.
Unique is the perfect word for this “Eazy”-To-Make Table Runner. A wall hanging option is included to make the “Too Square” into a celebration wall hanging using family pictures in the focus squares. This table runner also makes a great gift to commemorate weddings, birthdays, births and sporting events.
Marie designs and teaches for Eazy Peazy together with her sister Margaret Travis. Marie lives locally in Michigan. Let’s hear it for our local talent!
Marmalade & Jam
Description: This quilt is not like any sampler you’ve ever seen! If you’ve sewn a couple of quilts and are ready to learn more piecing techniques, then this is the next step. You’ll learn how to cut and piece 11 different quilt blocks and place them in an artful way. Students must provide their own sewing machine in good working order as well as basic sewing supplies. The pattern and fabrics should be purchased prior to class.
Required for all classes - sewing machine and basic sewing supplies (scissors, pins, rotary cutter, matt, etc.) A supply list will be available when you sign up for classes. (Discount 10% for all supplies purchased for a class.) The classes below are structured for adults, ages 16 and over. Please let us know if you are interested in youth classes! Note that all class fees are nonrefundable but are transferable in the event of a cancellation.
